Viliina Evokari

Viliina Evokari, project manager in City of Helsinki where she coordinates iWater project.

Stormwater management is vital when dealing with the impacts of climate chance in cities because of more frequent and intense rainwater events and extensive areas of sealed surfaces. Green infrastructure solutions are seen as the key contributor to climate chance adaptation because of their multiple benefits, for example decreasing stormwater run-off, cooling urban heat islands of built environments, improving air quality and increasing the wellbeing of citizens.

iWater project provides best practices and tools for cities to adapt to climate change. Green Factor is a practical tool for urban planning. The goal of Green Factor is to ensure sufficient green infrastructure when building new blocks in a dense urban environment.
