Connect with Baltic Sea Future

Learn from the latest research

Get updates on the latest research. This year’s keynote speakers are Professors Kevin Noone, Chemical Meteorology researcher, and Kevin Anderson, one of Great Britain’s most recognized climate researchers.

Kevin Noone’s keynote speech, Fathoming Connections: Mapping the Landscape of a Thriving Baltic Sea, will provide an overview on why taking a wider view on climate change-effects related to the Baltic Sea is crucial. The effects may reach further than we have foreseen.

“As one example, climate change will change the amount, type and timing of precipitation in the Baltic region in the future. These changes will in turn influence agricultural and municipal water management practices, which in turn change the amount, nature and timing of the nutrients and pollutants reaching the Baltic Sea” Kevin Noone writes.

Kevin Noone is Professor of Chemical Meteorology at the Department of Environmental Science and Analytical Chemistry (ACES) at Stockholm University. He has a background in Chemical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Oceanography, Meteorology, and Atmospheric Physics.

Kevin Anderson is well known for his skills in communicating climate science to decision makers, the business-sector, civil society and media. He has been pivotal in establishing research around carbon budgets and the transformation of different societal sectors to acceptable mitigation-levels based on politically agreed goals.

Kevin Anderson is Uppsala University’s second holder of the Zennström Visiting Professorship in Climate Change Leadership at the Centre for Sustainable Development (CEMUS). He is also Professor of Energy and Climate Change at the University of Manchester and Deputy Director of the internationally renowned Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research.
